This was one of my first full day shoots I did in my first year of shooting. It was planned meticulously over weeks and every shot was drawn out how I wanted it. But as the day came, it was obvious that I thought about it too much. I quickly learned that whilst my ideas were good, it would be even better if I just went along with whatever my model and the environment felt like doing. So this 17 hour day was filled with walking down random parts of Toronto and taking breaks whenever we saw fit.
In the end, no matter what narrative I came up with, the story of the man and his chair will be interpreted differently by each and every person. So I’m asking you to use these photos and understand them in your own sense, whether it is hopeful, sad, or mysterious; you write the story.
